OperaTor is a software bundle that can be easily installed on a portable memory (pendrive, usb stick, hard drive) to allow anonymous surfing while at an internet cafe, library etc.
It combines the power of the Opera Browser, The Onion Router (TOR) and Privoxy.
With OperaTor no data will be stored at the computer you plugged your portable memory into.
Tips
Installation
Just copy OperaTor folder to your portable memory. Launch the OperaTor.exe
file to start 3 preconfigured applications: Tor, Privoxy and Opera.
Disabling automatic deletion of data
By default all cookies, cached webpages, images, saved sessions and certificates are being deleted on exit. You can change this behaviour by editing the configuration file.
Note about different protocols
Do not enable Java, do not use e-mail and an integrated Bittorrent client – such connections will not be anonymous. Below is a list of all torrified (anonymous) protocols:
- HTTP and HTTPS
- FTP
- Gopher
- WAIS
Status bar triggers
You will find some useful triggers on the status bar located at the bottom of the window. By default:
- JavaScript, Java and plugins are disabled (recommended)
- proxy server is enabled. You can disable it if you want to bypass Privoxy and Tor and let Opera connect to web servers directly
Configuration
OperaTor stores its configuration settings in the INI file named operator.ini
. This file is located in the main OperaTor directory. Below is a list of available settings. 1
means that the setting is enabled and 0
disables it. Note that these settings have higher priority than those available in Opera, Tor or Privoxy.
