Ricapitoliamo per chi si fosse avvicinato da poco al mondo geek: i server DNS sono quelli che ci permettono di raggiungere i siti Internet digitando nella barra degli indirizzi del browser indirizzi comprensibili e facili da ricordare (es. google.com) anziché complicate sequele di numeri conosciute come indirizzi IP.
Ne consegue che usare dei server DNS veloci significa accorciare i tempi di accesso ai siti Internet, talvolta anche in maniera significativa. Il discorso vale per i computer ma anche per qualsiasi altro dispositivo connesso ad Internet, come console per i videogiochi, tablet e smartphone.
A proposito di smartphone, voi vi siete mai chiesti come cambiare DNS su Android per velocizzare la navigazione sul sistema del robottino verde? No? Poco male, perché ora ci pensiamo noi a dirvi come si fa.
Velocizzare Internet su Android
Tutto quello di cui avete bisogno per cambiare DNS su Android è Set DNS, un’applicazione scaricabile liberamente dall’Android Market (link a fine post) che permette di cambiare i server DNS del telefonino usando servizi popolari come OpenDNS, Google DNS e FoolDNS, oppure con impostazioni personalizzate da inserire manualmente.
Una volta installata, la app si può avviare normalmente dal menu delle applicazioni di Android. Per procedere al cambio di DNS basta pigiare sul menu a tendina con l’elenco dei servizi disponibili, scegliere quello che si preferisce e salvare i cambiamenti facendo tap su Apply. I cambiamenti hanno effetto immediato.
Secondo quanto si legge nella sua descrizione, Set DNS è gratis solo per chi ha una versione “rootata” di Android. Per chi non ha effettuato il root sul proprio telefonino, c’è un giorno di prova dell’applicazione dopodiché si deve acquistare la versione Pro a 1,74euro (link in fondo al post).
